Golf Instruction at Elkhorn Ridge Golf Club has a few basic cornerstones:
First, Elkhorn Ridge's Practice Facilities are an excellent place for any level of player to work on their skills employing a double-ended Driving Range, two Putting Greens with greenside and fairway Practice Bunkers, multiple target greens offering up to 50+ players at one time a practice experience unmatched in western South Dakota. Secondly, by choosing Elkhorn Ridge Golf Club as your facility to improve your game you've chosen the N. Black Hills' and one of only four PGA Professionally Staffed Facilities in Western SD, you've come to the right place, now enjoy!
After that a fun and inviting atmosphere is always applied to the instructional scope in offering all levels of players an educational and helpful atmosphere.. There is no one who is not "far enough along" or "into the game enough" to justify at least one or two golf lessons to learn The Five basic Fundementals which is the absolute core of the teaching focus.
They are: Grip, Stance, Posture, Ball Position & Alignment with a strong emphasis on Balance in the golf swing..
Without a firm understanding of The Five Basic Ideas having any grasp of playing The Game is difficult if not impossible..
Once you have become familiar with the fundementals we then introduce you to the importance of BALANCE in the golf swing and it's relationship to the basic fundementals.
So far, this process would have taken roughly two thirds of a 1.5 hr. Private Golf Lesson however, that doesn't mean you couldn't learn these ideas in a Group or Semi-Private setting as well!
One thing that we will GUARANTEE that you will leave with is an understanding of how to place your hands on the grip of a golf club!
You may take a lesson or two and fail to hit lots of really great shots and maybe even not get but just a few balls airborne but you WILL leave with an understanding of the GRIP! This alone is worth the price of a quality golf lesson.
We can instruct all levels of players in any one facet of the game however we do not employ computerized swing analysis software and elaborate launch monitors. Eventhough these tools are very useful for top level players golf is not played in a laboratory and although we do utilize several different swing-aides we don't get get real tangled-up in the scietific approach to teaching you would find at facilities instructing the best players in the world. Basically, our approach is to help you understand what the Set-Up or Address Position is all about..
We're going to teach you the basic fundementals and provided you master them you will improve! There is very rarely any one level of player regardless of ability that doesn't at some time or another experience a problem with his or her's understanding and proficiency of the Five Basic Ideas! Even the best players in the world often times need just a small adjustment to at least one of the Five basic Fundementals!
Finally and MOST IMPORTANTLY at Elkhorn Ridge Golf Club we believe Custom-Fitted golf equipment is not one of the main keys to maximizing your enjoyment of the game, it is THE MAIN KEY. All the lessons money can buy will no effect on a player whose equipment doesn't fit!
There is no charge associated with the evaluation of your existing equipment however, if you schedule a golf lesson and your equipment does not fit you properly we will let you know before the lesson progresses..
