Superintendent's Corner
Greetings from the Superintendent's Corner on November 28th, 2011!
We often get inquiries during the winter months regarding opening the course for play during stretches of warmer weather. Although some courses choose to do so, we find that it's in the best interest of the golf course to remain closed until spring. There are a few factors at play: One, it prevents us from winterizing the course properly and having the best possible conditions when spring arrives. Two, although the snow is gone, the ground remains completely frozen due to the cold temps at night, and it would be difficult to play off the tees and fairways. Lastly, we have a few areas of the course that remain snow/ice-covered all winter, regardless of the temp, due to lack of direct sunlight. These areas are impossible to maintain or access without the risk of severe damage. If anyone has any questions regarding this matter, our doors are open year-round!
As we settle in for a long winter's nap, we want to thank all of you who got out and played the course this year. We are looking forward to a bigger and better year next season!
Every winter, we have people asking about cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the golf course area. We will be taking a closer look at that possibility this winter. If some safe, low-impact trails can be established, we will consider developing trails during the winter months.
In the meantime, stay warm, and we'll see you in the spring!
Thanks for playing...
